Willi Soukop, sculptor and teacher was born in Austria. He studied at the Academy of Fine Art, Vienna 1928 - 34. He left Austria in 1934 and moved to Dartington Hall, Devon, where he remained until 1940. He taught at the Guildhall and Chelsea Schools of Art and exhibited widely during his life. Soukop worked in stone, wood, metal and clay his work includes public works, including a mural in concrete for Elmington Estate, Camberwell, 1959, as well as those held in the Royal Academy and Tate collections.
Willi Soukop was a member of the Royal Academy and Master of the Sculpture School 1969 - 1982, an early tutor of Dame Elisabeth Frink, RA. Soukop's work is prominently on display in public spaces throughout the United Kingdom.
